MTD belt 954-05001 replaces 754-05001, so one belt fits both numbers: our AK41 Kevlar replacement belt, 13 mm (1/2 inch) wide, 41 inches inside and 43 inches outside. Cub Cadet's part page lists 954-05001 as replacing 754-05001, and the table matches 23 more MTD belts to ours.

Is 754 the same as 954 on an MTD belt?
Yes, for every number in the table we found on MTD's part pages (all but 754-0363). Each page lists the matching 754- number under "This part replaces".
- A letter on the end is a later version. Search MTD's site for 954-04060B and it lands on 954-04060C, whose page lists 754-04060, 754-04060A, 754-04060B, 954-04060 and 954-04060B among the numbers it replaces. Our AK94 listing covers 754-04060(B) and 954-04060(B).
- Some belts took over older numbers. 954-0329A replaces 754-0433, and 954-05040 replaces 754-0241 and 754-04057. Our listings carry those older numbers too.
Some pages also list 490-501- numbers (954-05001 replaces 490-501-C065, for example). If your number isn't in the table, search our site for the digits after the 754- or 954-.
A, B or 5/8 inch: reading the belt column
The belt column gives the size our listing sells. A is the 13 mm (1/2 inch) section and B is 17 mm. The number is the inside length in inches, and the outside is 2 inches longer on an A belt and 3 inches on a B, so the AK41 is 41 inches inside and 43 outside. One exception: our A56 for 754-04043 is listed at 55.7 inches inside and 57.7 outside. Our V-belt sizes chart explains the sections.
Four MTD belts, 754-0280, 754-0281, 754-0329A and 754-0371A, are listed by width and length only: 5/8 inch (15.9 mm) wide, with no section letter. Order those by the MTD number, not by a section and length.
Kevlar or standard? Match the old belt
In our experience, 99% of deck (cutter) belts are Kevlar, and a standard belt in a Kevlar position can shred within hours. Many drive belts need Kevlar too. Of the 24 belts in the table, 22 are listed as made with Kevlar; the 754-04043 (A56) and 754-04249 (B68) are not.

How to find the right MTD belt
- Read the number off the old belt or the parts list in your operator's manual. Our listings ask you to check your manual for the correct belt number.
- Check the position. Many MTD ride-ons have a deck belt plus an upper and a lower transmission belt, each with its own number. On the Rover Raider 1438 (13AM76TF333), our listings give 754-04062 as the deck belt, 754-04249 as the lower and 754-05040 as the upper transmission belt.

- Pick the Mini Rider deck belt (AK41) and the Mini Rider lower transmission belt (BK32) for the 24 and 30 inch Mini Riders our listings name.
- Pick the 38 inch deck belt (AK75), lower transmission belt (B68) and upper transmission belt (BK32) for the 38 inch MTD, Yard Machines, Rover Raider and Ranger models each listing names.
- Pick the 42 inch deck belt (AK94) for the 42 inch Cub Cadet LT1042 (2005, 2012), LTX1042, MTD Yardman, Rover Raider and Rancher models the listing names; a 2006 LT1042 (13AX11CG630) is in the 754-04045 row instead.
- Pick the lower drive belt (BK88) and upper drive belt (BK39) for MTD 600 series auto drive ride-ons, 1999 to 2003 (LT14A to LT23A).
