Frequently asked questions

These are the questions our customers ask us most, with the answers we give every day. Can't see yours? Email us at gday@bearingsexpress.com.au and we'll help you find the right part.

Finding the right part

How do I know a part will fit my vehicle or machine?

Send us your vehicle's make, model, year and engine, or the registration and state or VIN, and we'll confirm the right part before you order. For mowers and machinery, the manufacturer's part number from your manual is the most reliable guide. If you don't have it, the measurements of the old part help. Contact us with what you have.

Can you confirm I've picked the right part number?

Yes. Email us the original manufacturer's part number, or the make and model of your equipment and what the part does, and we'll confirm the correct replacement. If you have the old part, its markings or measurements are just as useful.

Which bearing, seal or kit suits my vehicle?

Tell us the year, make, model and engine size, and we'll confirm the correct bearings and seals. For some vehicles we may also need the transmission type or measurements of the old bearing to be sure. Browse our wheel bearing kits, or for trailers, read Holden or Ford trailer bearings? How to tell.

Is a wheel bearing kit for one wheel or two?

Check the title. A listing that starts with "2x" contains two kits, one for each side. Otherwise it's one wheel. Not sure if your car takes a bearing kit or a whole hub assembly? See Wheel bearing kit or hub assembly?, and for Toyota models Toyota Hilux, Hiace and Prado wheel bearing kits.

Does the timing belt kit include a water pump or tensioner?

Each kit's listing shows what's inside. If a water pump or hydraulic tensioner isn't listed, it isn't included. For example, our timing belt kit for the Hyundai Getz and Accent is a belt kit only, with no hydraulic tensioner. Not sure? Send us the kit and your engine code before you order.

How do I measure a V-belt?

Start with the machine maker's belt number from the manual: we can cross-reference it for you. If you measure the old belt, note whether you measured the inside or the outside, because belt numbers don't all describe the same length. An A-section belt (13 mm wide) is about 2 inches longer on the outside than its number, and a B-section belt about 3 inches. Our guides Mower belts and Mower belt listed as "1/2 x 95"? walk you through it.

Which belt do I need for my mower or machine?

Send us the belt number from your manual, the mower's model number, or the old belt's measurements, and we'll confirm the replacement. If we don't stock it, we can often get it in. Our V-belt sizes chart explains what the numbers mean.

My belt works out between two sizes. Which one do I choose?

Aftermarket belts come in 1-inch steps, so a converted size can fall between two. Choose by the adjustment on your mower. If there's little adjustment left at the tight end, choose the larger belt. If there's little left at the loose end, choose the smaller one.

Can I use a standard belt instead of a Kevlar (K) belt?

No. If the old belt was Kevlar, replace it with Kevlar: a standard belt in a Kevlar job can shred within hours. A Kevlar belt can replace a standard belt of the same size, but not the other way round. Most mower deck belts are Kevlar. More in Do I need a Kevlar mower belt?

Why doesn't the part I received match my old one's measurements?

Belt and bearing numbers don't always describe the same measurement. Some makers quote the inside length of a belt, others the outside or pitch length, and stamped numbers can wear. Send us the part number or your measurements and we'll confirm the right size. If it's still wrong, we'll help you sort it out.

Are these two part numbers the same?

Sometimes. Some different numbers are the same size (for example a cogged CX belt and a plain C belt of the same number share dimensions), while others differ in bore, outside diameter or width. Send us both numbers and we'll confirm whether they're interchangeable for your job.

What's the difference between A, AX and AK belts?

The letter is the section and the number stays the same. An X means a cogged belt, which bends more easily around small pulleys. A K means a Kevlar-corded belt, the tougher option used on most mower decks. A plain letter is the standard smooth belt. Can you give me the dimensions of a belt or bearing?

Yes. Send us the part number or a photo of the markings. For belts we can usually give the inside length, outside length and width. For bearings and seals, the bore, outside diameter and width. Common bearing sizes are in our bearing size chart.

What brand are the bearings in this kit?

It varies by kit, and each listing shows the brand. We sell kits with bearings from makers including ITJ, KOYO and ACCOR. For the brand in a particular kit, email us the listing or part number.

Do you have an equivalent to an SKF, NSK or other branded bearing?

Often, yes. An equivalent is matched on dimensions and specification, not the brand name. Send us the original part number and we'll check the size and type before you order, because makers don't always number parts the same way.

Can you supply a bearing without a seal, collar or grease?

It depends on the bearing. Send us the part number and we'll confirm what's available. A sealed bearing (for example a 6004RS) can't be converted, so you'd need a different bearing rather than a modified one.

Do seals come with gaskets or O-rings?

Most seals are sold on their own, without gaskets, O-rings or back plates. Send us your vehicle or equipment details and we'll confirm what you need.

Do I need to align a UCP or UCF pillow block bearing?

Often, yes. Our pillow block and flange units arrive with the insert fitted to the housing, but you may need to align it to suit your shaft. The inserts are self-aligning: they align in the housing, not inside the bearing. Tighten the mounting bolts evenly and don't overdo it, because over-tightening can crack a housing. See How to get an insert bearing into a housing and UCP204, UCP205 and UCP206 dimensions.

Wrong, missing or faulty items

I received the wrong item. What do I do?

Sorry about that. Contact us within 2 business days of delivery with your order number and a photo of what arrived, and we'll organise a return and send the correct item or refund you.

Part of my order is missing.

Contact us within 2 business days of delivery with your order number and what's missing, and we'll send the missing items as soon as possible.

My item seems faulty.

Contact us before sending anything back, with photos and a short description of the problem. We'll check whether it's a fault or a fitting issue and make sure the right process is followed, including the manufacturer's warranty where it applies (see our warranty page). Your purchase is also protected by Australian Consumer Law.

My new bearing is noisy after fitting. Why?

Check the races for dirt and scratches first: contaminated grease or damage in transit can cause noise. If the bearing is clean and still noisy, contact us with the part, how it's used and when the noise started, and we'll help work out the cause.

Can I claim warranty on a bearing that failed early?

Yes, we'll help. Products are covered by their manufacturer's warranty. We'll need a completed warranty form with your mechanic's details and the installation date, and the bearing sent back for inspection. Failures caused by installation aren't covered. See our warranty page.

When will I get my refund?

Most returns are processed the next business day after they reach us, and the refund goes back to your original payment method. If you can't see it after a few business days, email us your order number.
