Cabin air filters by vehicle: which of our service kits has one

Cabin air filters by vehicle: which of our service kits has one

A cabin filter, also called a pollen filter, cleans the air that comes into the car through the vents, and it's a different part from the engine air filter. We list cabin filters in nine service kits, for the Hilux, Prado GDJ150, Colorado RG, D-Max TF II and MU-X, Pajero NS to NX, Triton, Ranger with BT-50, and BA Falcon.

Find your vehicle and model code in the table below, then check the years.

Source: our product listings (titles, "Kit includes" and "Fits" lists), read 30 October 2026. Where one kit lists several codes or engines, they share a row.

Each of these kits holds one air filter, one oil filter, one fuel filter and one cabin filter, except the Colorado RG kit, which has two fuel filters. Our two D-Max kits both list January to June 2012, so for a D-Max built in those months, send us your VIN before you order.

What does a cabin filter do?

The cabin filter works with the heating and ventilation system and helps keep dust, dirt, pollen and other debris out of the passenger cabin. It usually sits behind the glove box.

The engine air filter is a separate part. It sits in the air intake under the bonnet and cleans the air the engine breathes. That's why our kits list them as two items: "1 x Air Filter" for the engine and "1 x Cabin Filter" for the vents.

Is it in a service kit, or sold on its own?

Our cabin filters come only in a service kit, never on their own. Each vehicle above has two kits: one with air, oil and fuel filters, and the same kit plus a cabin filter. The cabin version lists exactly the same vehicles, so pick it if you're changing the cabin filter at the same service. Our service kit guide covers what's in each kit and how the model code picks it.

Our kits are listed as Sunwa. Our listings say Sunwa and FULL filters are both made by Siam Filter Company, and either may be supplied, depending on the supply chain.

Plain or carbon? Our listings don't say whether the cabin filter is a plain or an activated carbon type, so we don't claim either.

Vehicles where our kit has no cabin filter

We also list service kits for these vehicles, but in air, oil and fuel filters only, with no cabin filter version:

  • Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series (VDJ76, VDJ78, VDJ79) and the 1HZ LandCruisers (HZJ75, HZJ78, HZJ79, HZJ80);
  • Holden Colorado RC, Rodeo RA and Isuzu D-Max TF;
  • Mitsubishi Triton MQ and MR, and Pajero Sport QE and QF;
  • Ford Ranger PJ and PK;
  • Holden Commodore and Calais VX and VY, and Caprice and Statesman WH and WK;
  • Nissan Navara D23 and D231.

For these, we don't sell a cabin filter. Your owner's manual will show whether your vehicle has one and where it sits.

How often should you change it?

Your owner's manual or service book gives the interval for your vehicle, and how to reach the filter. We don't quote one here. Our listings say the parts should be fitted by a licensed professional to the vehicle's specifications.

Questions people also ask

Where is the cabin filter on a Mitsubishi Triton?

In our team's filter-change video, filmed on a Triton, the cabin filter compartment is behind the glove compartment and a plastic cover. Some Mitsubishis weren't fitted with a cabin filter, but they're likely to still have provision for one.

Is a cabin filter the same as the air filter?

No. The cabin filter cleans the air coming through your vents; the engine air filter cleans the air going into the engine. Our kits with a cabin filter include both.

Can I buy just the cabin filter?

Not from us: our cabin filters are sold in the service kits above only.

Do you have a cabin filter for a LandCruiser?

For the Prado GDJ150, yes. Our LandCruiser 70 Series and 1HZ kits have no cabin filter version.
