A Cox Stockman's drive belt, the engine to clutch belt, depends on the series: our B83 belt replaces Cox V34 on the Stockman Series 2 (2002 to 2005), our B84 belt replaces Cox V42 on the New Era and Series III, and our B74 belt replaces Cox V16 on many 1993 to 2002 Stockmans.
Read the Cox number off the old belt or from your manual, find it in the tables below, and you're done. The number decides the belt, not the model name alone.
| Belt code in our listings | Width | Number means | Outside length |
|---|---|---|---|
| A, such as A83 | 13 mm (1/2") | Inside length in inches | Number + 2" |
| B, such as B83 | 17 mm (5/8") | Inside length in inches | Number + 3" |
| K (AK, BK) | Same as A or B | Made with Kevlar | Same as A or B |
Source: our product listings, read 10 October 2026 (our listings give A as 1/2" (13 mm) and B as 5/8" (17 mm)); belt makers' section tables give the same mm widths (see Sources).
Which Cox belt goes where
Each table gives the Cox model and position exactly as our listing names them, the Cox number, and our belt with its section and inside length. "Kevlar" and "standard" are as each listing says; "not stated" means the listing doesn't say either. Where a listing says a belt fits only some of a series, so does the table.

The 1993 to 1994 16hp Stockmans changed belts within one series code ("some 23K94"), so on those the Cox number on the old belt matters most. For the 25I3 and 25K94 deck belt, two of our listings name different belts (B53 on the 32" deck, B55 with no deck size), so send us the Cox number from your old belt and we'll check.

Our listings give the Scout XL 20L7 an A33 and other 8hp Scouts an A38, so match the Cox number on your old belt. We also list belts for the Cox garden edger, garden recycler and fertiliser spreader. Your Cox number isn't here? Send it to us and we'll check.
Kevlar or standard? Match the old belt
If the old belt had a K in its code (AK or BK), buy the Kevlar belt. A Kevlar belt can replace a standard belt of the same size, but a standard belt can't replace a Kevlar one: in a Kevlar position it can shred within hours. In our team's experience, most mower deck belts need Kevlar. Where our listing offers only a standard belt for a deck (some older Cox models), match what came off.
Three Cox numbers come both ways in our range, so you can pick: Cox V30 (A51 or Kevlar AK51), Cox VA29 (A29 or Kevlar AK29) and Cox VA33 (A33 or Kevlar AK33). More in our Kevlar mower belt guide.
How to get the right Cox belt
- Find the Cox number. Look on the old belt or in your owner's manual. Cox's own owner's manual library lists manuals by the same model codes our listings use (such as 23E94, 4398H, 8002G and 9005J).
- Find the position. Many Cox ride-ons have two or three belts: engine to clutch, clutch to cutter deck, and on some a forward and reverse or PTO belt. Our listings name the position for each model.
- Check the deck width. On the Stockman, Nova and New Generation, the deck belt changes with the cutting width (from 25 to 48 inch on a Stockman, as the table shows).
- No number? Measure the top width (13 mm is A, 17 mm is B) and the inside length, then check against the tables. Our V-belt sizes chart explains the codes.
Our belt listings say they need to be fitted by a licensed technician. Follow the routing and tensioning in your Cox manual, or have a mower mechanic fit the belt.

Questions people also ask
Is our B83 the same as a Cox V34 belt?
It's listed to replace Cox V34 on the Stockman Series 2 as the engine to clutch belt: a 5/8" (17 mm) B-section, 83 inches inside. Like all our Cox belts it's an aftermarket (non-genuine) belt.
Where can I find a Cox mower deck belt diagram?
In the parts diagrams in the owner's manual for your model. Cox's own manual library has manuals from the 1963 Compact Tractor to current Stockmans. Our listings name each belt's position but don't show routing.
What belt does a Cox Lawn Boss 13hp take?
On the 32" cut Lawn Boss (8900, 9605G, CR9600 13hp) our listings give an A83 for Cox V39 as the transmission drive belt and an A57 for Cox V40 as the cutter deck belt.
