Toyota Hilux, Hiace, Prado and Fortuner wheel bearing kits: which one fits

Toyota Hilux, Hiace, Prado and Fortuner wheel bearing kits: which one fits

The Toyota wheel bearing kit depends on the model code: a KUN26R or GGN25R Hilux from 2005, or a Prado or GUN156R Fortuner in the table, takes our Hilux, Fortuner and Prado front kit. A 2005 to 2019 Hiace with a listed KDH or TRH code takes our Hiace front hub kit and a rear kit without or with ABS.

Find your model code in the table. If it's there, that's your kit.

Source: Bearings Express product titles and "Fits" lists for each kit named, read 30 September 2026. "Not stated" means the listing gives model codes but doesn't say 2WD or 4x4. The 2WD front kit's list doesn't include RZN147R or any 4x4 code, and the early rear kit's list doesn't include LN147R, LN170R or LN172R. Each kit does one wheel, and each kit has a pair listing for both sides.

The model code picks the kit, not the name Hilux

Across our own Toyota listings, one model name is split over several kits. Of the kits in this guide, the Hilux appears in five: the 2WD front kit for fronts up to 2005, the 4x4 front kit for 4x4 fronts up to 1997, the Hilux, Fortuner and Prado front kit for 2005 on fronts with the codes above, the early rear kit for rears up to 1997, and the later rear kit for 2000 to 2005 rears. What separates them is the model code, whether it's 2WD or 4x4, the build month and whether the vehicle has ABS. The name and year alone aren't enough.

So don't buy on "2008 Hilux". A 2008 KUN26R is on the Hilux, Fortuner and Prado front kit's list. A 2008 Hilux with a code that isn't on that list is not. If you don't know your model code, check the listing's fitment, or send us your VIN or registration and we'll confirm it from the make, model, year and engine.

What we left out of the table, and why

Some vehicles appear in two listings, or in one listing with conditions we can't pin down. Rather than guess, we left them out:

  • Hilux and Hiace rears built around mid 1998 to 2001. The early rear kit (pn257) lists codes such as RZN149, RZN154, RZN169, LH103 and LH113 "up to" dates in 1998 or 2001. The later rear kit (pn494) lists the same codes, some "June 1998 onwards, without ABS" and some (RZN169R) with no date qualifier. The two overlap, so send us your VIN.
  • 2005 to 2015 Hilux rears (KUN16R, KUN26R, GGN15R, GGN25R). The later rear kit lists them, but several lines say "up to Jul 2008, without ABS" and others don't. Check the listing against your build date and ABS, or ask us.
  • Hiace KZH rears, 1993 to 2004. The later rear kit lists them under "June 1998 onwards, without ABS", which leaves earlier builds unclear.
  • Prado GRJ150R built June 2015 to December 2017. The Hilux, Fortuner and Prado front kit lists it, and so does one of our other front kit listings, so send us your VIN before you order.
  • Hilux Surf. The 2WD front kit's list includes RZN185R, which the later rear kit's list calls a Surf SUV, so we haven't put the Surf in either row.
  • Not listed at all: none of our Toyota wheel bearing listings names the 90 series Prado, a Prado or Fortuner rear, a 1997 to 2005 4x4 Hilux front (LN167R, LN172R, KZN165R and similar), a 2005 on Hilux front with codes other than those in the table (for example KUN16R or GGN15R), or a GDH code Hiace.

How to tell a wheel bearing is going, and when to get a mechanic

Bearing makers list these signs of a worn wheel hub bearing:

  1. Humming, rumbling or growling. These noises usually come from tyres, electrics or the driveline. If the bearing is the cause, the noise is there in a straight line but gets louder when you turn the steering wheel slightly. Typically, the faulty bearing is on the side opposite the rumbling.
  2. Grinding while moving. Usually heard when turning or when the load shifts, and it can mean roller or raceway damage.
  3. Snapping or clicking on sharp turns. This can mean too much bearing end play, or a worn outer CV joint.
  4. Vibration or wobble. This can come from tyres, wheels, suspension or severe chassis misalignment. When the bearing is to blame, it points to a damaged bearing or wheel nuts not torqued correctly.

Get a mechanic if you don't have Toyota's workshop manual and the tools it calls for. This is wheel bearing work, and the hub nut and axle settings come from the manual. We don't publish torque or adjustment figures. Every one of these kit listings says the parts "should be fitted by a professional and fitted to vehicle specifications", and we agree.

Which Bearings Express kit fits

  • Pick the Hilux, Fortuner and Prado front kit (pn603) for the front of a 2005 on Hilux, 120 or 150 series Prado or Fortuner with a code in the table.
  • Pick the 2WD Hilux and Hiace front kit (pn260) for a 2WD Hilux or Hiace front up to 2005 with a code on its list (RZN147R and 4x4 codes are not on it). It has an inner and outer bearing and a seal.
  • Pick the 4x4 Hilux and Landcruiser front kit (pn930) for a 4x4 Hilux front up to 1997 with a code in the table.
  • Pick the Hiace front hub kit (pn601) for the front of a 2005 to 2019 Hiace with one of the KDH or TRH codes in the table (the listing names no GDH code). It's listed as a front wheel bearing hub kit for one side. If you can't add it to your cart, send us your VIN and we'll tell you what fits.
  • Pick the early Hilux and Hiace rear kit (pn257) for a Hilux rear up to 1997 or a Hiace rear up to 1989 with a code in the pn257 rows of the table. It has the bearing, hub seal, axle shaft seal, O-ring and shaft collar.
  • Pick the later Hilux and Hiace rear kit (pn494) for a 2000 to 2005 Hilux rear with a code in the table and no ABS. It has the same five parts as the early rear kit.
  • Pick the Hiace rear kit without ABS (pn1800) or with ABS (pn1802) for a 2004 to 2019 Hiace rear with a KDH or TRH code on the listing.

More kits are in wheel bearing kits and hub units.

Questions people also ask

Which wheel bearing does a Toyota Hiace take?

It depends on the model code. A 2005 to 2019 Hiace with a KDH or TRH code on our lists takes the 2005 to 2019 front hub kit (pn601), and the rear kit without ABS (pn1800) or with ABS (pn1802). A 2WD Hiace up to 2005 with a code on the pn260 list takes pn260 at the front. For a GDH code or a 4WD Hiace, send us your VIN.

What is in the Hilux rear wheel bearing kit?

The early rear kit (pn257) has one bearing, a hub seal, an axle shaft seal, a rubber O-ring and a shaft collar. The later rear kit (pn494) lists the same five parts.

What bearings are in the 2WD Hilux front wheel bearing kit?

The 2WD Hilux and Hiace front kit (pn260) names an M12649/10 outer bearing and an LM48548/10 inner bearing, plus a seal. The M12649 cone has a 21.43 mm (0.8437 in) bore and runs in a 50.01 mm M12610 cup. The LM48548 cone has a 34.93 mm (1 3/8 in) bore and runs in a 65.09 mm LM48510 cup.

Which front wheel bearing fits a 2006 or 2008 Hilux?

If the model code is KUN26R or GGN25R, the Hilux, Fortuner and Prado front kit (pn603). If it's another code, such as KUN16R or GGN15R, none of our listings names it at the front, so send us your VIN before you order.

What is the torque for a Hilux front wheel bearing?

We don't quote it. Use the figure in Toyota's workshop manual for your model code, or have a mechanic fit the kit.

Do I need one kit or two?

Each kit does one wheel, left or right. Each kit also has a pair listing (for example pn604 is the pair of pn603) if you're replacing both sides.
