Boat trailer wheel bearings are the same bearings as in a standard trailer kit: a Holden axle takes LM67048 and LM11949 cones (31.75 and 19.05 mm bore), and a Ford axle takes L68149 and LM12749 (34.99 and 21.99 mm). In our marine Holden kit and marine Ford kit, the seal is the difference.
If your trailer goes in the water, buy the marine kit that matches the numbers on your old cones. That's the whole decision.

Source: our product listings, read 8 October 2026; bores are bearing makers' published part data (see Sources). Our marine kits come with ACCOR or KOYO bearings, as single or 2x kits (4x for parallel axles), and the Holden and Ford ones also with dust caps.
Marine vs standard trailer bearing kits: same bearings, different seal
Put a marine kit next to the standard kit for the same axle and the cones and cups are identical, part number for part number. Our listings give the marine kits a "Marine/Boat" seal instead. On the Ford kits, both seals are even listed at the same inside and outside diameter, 1.687 x 2.328 in, so the marine seal takes the same place on the axle and in the hub.
One axle maker's bearings catalogue does the same with its own parts: its Holden (LM) and Ford (SL) marine seals run on the same seal journal as its standard seals (37.5 mm for LM, 43.9 mm for SL), in the same 59.10 mm hub bore.
Our rule of thumb for which kit to buy:
- Boat, jet ski and other trailers that go in the water: a marine kit. We recommend marine seals on anything that goes in the water.
- Caravans and box trailers: a standard kit generally does the job. A marine seal is fine on a road trailer, and our team confirms marine seals are fine on caravans too.
Holden or Ford marine kit?
Choosing a Holden or Ford marine kit works as it does on a road trailer: read the inner cone. LM67048 is Holden and L68149 is Ford (also called slimline). No readable number? Measure the inner bearing seat on the stub axle: about 31.75 mm is Holden, about 35 mm is Ford. The hub and studs won't tell you, because Holden and Ford cups fit the same hub bores. The full set of checks is in Holden or Ford trailer bearings? How to tell.
Three other boat trailer sets turn up:
- Composite: an LM67048 (Holden) inner with an LM12749 (Ford) outer. We sell this set as a marine kit too.
- Parallel: both cones read L68149. Our "boat trailer" parallel kits carry marine/boat seals; the 4x kit does a tandem trailer. More in Parallel trailer bearings explained.
- American import: the inner cone is L68149, but it sits in a larger L68111 cup (59.97 mm across instead of 59.13 mm) with an L44649 outer, so a standard Ford kit won't fit that hub. Our listing names imported boat trailers such as Bayliner, Malibu, Mastercraft and Tige. We don't list a marine seal version of this kit.
Water and your trailer bearings
Bearing makers warn that moisture in the hubs can corrode the bearings, and suggest servicing them before you store the trailer for a long time. Follow your trailer or axle maker's maintenance schedule. At each service, bearing makers say to:
- Fit a new grease seal every time. Never refit the old one.
- Replace corroded parts. Bearings and cups that show corrosion, pitting, discolouration or wear get replaced.
- Leave a thin film of grease on the bare metal: the spindle, the races, the seal and the inside of the hub and hub cap. It protects them from moisture.
Have a trailer workshop or mechanic look at it before you tow further if a hub ran hot, a bearing grinds, a cup is pitted, or the axle seat is scored or blue. Our kit listings say all parts should be fitted by a licensed professional to vehicle specifications.
Which Bearings Express kit fits
Every kit below includes the inner and outer cones and cups, plus seals.
- Pick the 2x Marine Trailer Bearing Kits for Holden Axles for both wheels of a Holden boat trailer (ACCOR bearings), or the 2x KOYO Marine Trailer Bearing Kits for Holden Axles if you want Japanese-made KOYO bearings.
- Pick the 2x Marine Trailer Bearing Kits for Ford Axles for a Ford (slimline) boat trailer (ACCOR bearings), or the KOYO 2x Marine Trailer Bearing Kit for Ford Axles.
- Pick the 2x Composite Ford/Holden Marine/Boat Wheel Bearing Kits if your inner cone reads LM67048 and your outer reads LM12749.
- Pick the 2x Boat Trailer Wheel Bearing Kits for Parallel Axle if both cones read L68149.
- Pick the 2x Standard American Import Trailer Bearing Kits for an imported boat trailer with an L68111 inner cup. There's no marine version.
Single, 4x, dust cap and other KOYO and ITJ versions are in the trailer bearing collection.
Questions people also ask
Can I put a marine bearing kit on a caravan or road trailer?
Yes, as long as the bearing numbers match the ones that came out. A marine kit has the same bearings as the standard kit for that axle, and a marine seal is fine on a road trailer or a caravan. Some of our caravan and trailer kits come with marine seals as listed, such as the Japanese 2 or 2.5 tonne trailer and caravan kit and the Trojan 2 tonne trailer kit.
What size are boat trailer wheel bearings?
The same sizes as road trailer bearings. A Holden set is 31.75 mm (inner) and 19.05 mm (outer) bore; a Ford set is 34.99 mm and 21.99 mm. Both sets use cups 59.13 mm (inner) and 45.24 mm (outer) across. Other combinations are charted in our trailer bearing size guide.
What are the best boat trailer bearings?
The ones with the same numbers as the bearings that came out, as our supplier advises, and for a boat trailer, fitted with marine seals. We sell our marine kits with ACCOR or KOYO bearings.
Do you sell boat trailer hubs?
No. We list bearing kits, seals and dust caps for trailer hubs, not the hubs themselves.
