L68149, LM67048, LM12749 and LM11949: trailer bearing numbers and the kits that use them

L68149, LM67048, LM12749 and LM11949: trailer bearing numbers and the kits that use them

An L68149 is the inner cone of a Ford (slimline) trailer bearing, with a 34.99 mm (1.3775") bore. In the Ford set it runs in an L68110 cup, written L68149/10. In the Holden set the inner cone is the LM67048, 31.75 mm bore, in an LM67010 cup. We sell both in kits: the 2x Ford kit and the 2x Holden kit.

Found your number below? Check the cup number as well, then buy the kit that carries both of your cones. Full chart of every part: trailer bearing sizes.

One number won't pick the kit: what each one pairs with

Our supplier's rule for trailer bearings is simple: replace them with the same numbers that came out. All of them. A single cone number turns up in several of our kits, each time with a different partner, so one number on its own doesn't tell you which kit you need.

Number Paired with, in our kits

The cups catch people out too. Bearing makers sell most of these cones with more than one cup. L68149 also runs in an L68111 cup, 59.97 mm across instead of 59.13 mm. LM12749 also runs in an LM12711 cup (45.97 mm instead of 45.24 mm), LM67048 in an LM67014 (61.99 mm instead of 59.13 mm) and LM11949 in an LM11919 (52.80 mm instead of 45.24 mm), and none of our kits include those. A standard Ford or Holden kit won't fit a hub with one of those cups. Read the number on each cup, not just the cones.

L68149: the Ford inner cone

L68149 is the Ford (slimline) inner cone, 34.99 mm (1.3775") bore. In a Ford kit it runs in an L68110 cup with an LM12749/10 outer. The L68110 cup is the same 59.13 mm across as the Holden LM67010 cup, so the hub won't tell you which you have: Holden or Ford trailer bearings? How to tell has the checks.

Used on both sides of a straight axle, L68149/L68110 is the parallel set, sold as the 2x L68149/L68110 parallel kit. Parallel trailer bearings explained covers it and the larger 25590 set.

LM67048: the Holden inner cone

LM67048 is the Holden inner cone, 31.75 mm (1 1/4") bore. In the Holden set it runs in an LM67010 cup (59.13 mm), with an LM11949/10 outer. It's also the outer bearing of the 1.5 tonne set, and it has more partners in our range than any other number here. The same LM67048 and LM11949 pair is in our front wheel bearing kits for the Holden HQ to WB and VB to VP Commodore.

LM12749: the Ford outer cone

LM12749 is the Ford outer cone, 21.99 mm (0.8656") bore, in an LM12710 cup (45.24 mm), usually behind an L68149 inner. Our composite kits pair it with a Holden LM67048 inner instead: that's the "12749-67048" combination, sold as the 2x composite Ford/Holden kit LM67048 and LM12749.

LM11949: the Holden outer cone

LM11949 is the Holden outer cone, 19.05 mm (3/4") bore. In the Holden set it runs in an LM11910 cup, 45.24 mm across like the Ford LM12710. In our kits it only pairs with LM67048. Don't confuse it with LM11749, a smaller cone (17.46 mm bore) that none of our trailer kits use.

LM29749, 15123, 25580 and the other trailer numbers

LM29749, LM48548, L44649 and 30210

LM29749 is the inner bearing of the 2x 1.5 tonne kit and the outer of our 3 tonne kit; LM48548 shares the LM29710's 65.09 mm cup size but not its cone, and pairs with L44649 in our Trojan 2 tonne kits; L44649 is also the outer of our 2x American import kit; and 30210 is the inner of our 2, 2.5 and 3 tonne kits and our Kimberley Karavans kit.

15123 and 15245

The outer bearing of the 2 and 2.5 tonne set and of our Dexter and ModCon kits. Bearing makers also pair the 15123 cone with other cups, such as the 15250X (63.50 mm), so check the cup reads 15245. More in 2 and 2.5 tonne caravan wheel bearings.

25580, 25590 and 25520

In our kits both cones run in the same 82.93 mm 25520 cup, but their bores differ (44.45 mm and 45.62 mm), so read the cone. Bearing makers also sell both with other cups, such as the 83.06 mm 25521 and 25522, so check the cup reads 25520. The Dexter kit guide covers the 25580 and 15123 kits and their seals.

30210 and HR30210

The inner bearing of our 2 and 2.5 tonne and 3 tonne kits, and of our Kimberley Karavans kit.

How to read a trailer bearing number

  • Letter numbers (L, LM). In the American Bearing Manufacturers Association's inch numbering, last two digits of 10 to 19 mean a cup and 30 to 49 a cone. LM67048 is a cone and LM67010 its cup.
  • The /10 shorthand, and all-digit numbers. "LM67048/10" swaps the cone's last two digits for 10: cone LM67048, cup LM67010, and L68149/11 is the L68149 cone in an L68111 cup. All-digit pairs such as 15123/15245 don't follow that digit rule, so read them as our listings write them: 15123/245 and 25580/20. As our team explains to customers, 25590/20 means a 25590 cone and a 25520 cup.

Before you order

  1. Read both cones and both cups. Wipe the grease off the large end face of each cone and the edge of each cup. Check each cup number matches the cup in the kit listing (for example LM67010, not LM67014).
  2. Match the pair. Find your two cones in the pairing table, and buy the kit that carries both.

Get a trailer workshop or mechanic to look at it if a hub ran hot, the bearing grinds or has play, the cup is pitted, or the axle seat is scored or blue. Most of our kit listings say all parts should be fitted by a licensed professional to vehicle specifications.

Which of our kits carries your numbers

Marine, KOYO, single and dust cap versions of these, plus the Dexter, ModCon, Kimberley, Trojan, Cruisemaster and Simplicity kits, are in the trailer bearing collection.

Questions people also ask

What is an LM68149 bearing?

We couldn't find an LM68149 in the bearing makers' part lists we checked. The Ford inner cone is L68149, with one L: 34.99 mm bore, in an L68110 cup.

Is a 4T-L68149 the same as an L68149?

Yes, for size: it's the L68149 cone with NTN's 4T- prefix, NTN's code for its 4T tapered roller bearing design. NTN's catalogue lists it as a set with the larger L68111 cup, and 4T-LM12749 with the larger LM12711 cup, so check which cups your hub has before you order a Ford kit.
