Caravan wheel bearings: which kit does my caravan or camper take?

Caravan wheel bearings: which kit does my caravan or camper take?

The axle under your caravan decides its wheel bearing kit, not the caravan's brand: our 2 or 2.5 tonne caravan kit, for example, is an HR30210 inner bearing (50 mm bore) with a 15123/15245 outer (31.75 mm bore). Read the numbers stamped on your old cones and cups, and buy the kit that carries both.

The tonne figure only narrows it down: six different bearing pairs in our range are sold as 2 tonne. Find your numbers in the table below. No readable numbers? Use the steps after it.

Source: our product listings (titles and kit contents), checked 30 October 2026; bores are bearing makers' published part data (see Sources). The last six rows are listed as trailer, float or boat trailer kits rather than caravan kits: if your camper's cones read those numbers, that's still your kit. Single-hub, marine, dust cap and other-brand versions of most sets are in the trailer bearing collection.

Not sure whether you have Holden or Ford bearings? Holden or Ford trailer bearings? How to tell has the checks, and parallel trailer bearings explained covers the two parallel sets. Numbers not in this table? See the full chart in our trailer bearing size guide.

Why the tonne figure doesn't pick your kit

The tonnes in our kit names are the trailer's rating, not the bearings'. Going up a tonne isn't an upgrade, and the bigger kit's bearings may not fit your axle, so replace them with the same bearing numbers that came out. We don't quote load ratings for bearings or kits.

The table shows why the label isn't enough. Six of those bearing pairs carry a 2 tonne label. The 30210 (HR30210) inner turns up in three kits (2 or 2.5 tonne, 3 tonne and Kimberley Karavans), so the outer cone is what tells them apart. And the same 25580 and 15123 bearings come with four different seals across our Dexter and ModCon kits. Our 2 and 2.5 tonne caravan bearing guide goes through the 2 tonne kits one by one, and our Dexter kit guide shows how to tell the AU and US seals apart.

How do I find which wheel bearings my caravan has?

  1. Read both cones and both cups. Wipe the grease off the large end face of each cone and the edge of each cup, and note every number. Our trailer bearing number guide says what each number is and what it pairs with.
  2. Match the pair, not one number. LM67048, for example, turns up in six of our kits, each time with a different partner. Find both of your cones in one row of the table.
  3. Check the cup numbers. Bearing makers sell most of these cones with more than one cup. A 15123 cone can also run in a 15250X cup (63.50 mm across instead of the 15245's 62.00 mm), so check your cups match the kit listing.
  4. Measure the old seal. Note the inside and outside diameter and the width, and compare them with the seal column. Our trailer bearing seal sizes guide shows how to measure one.
  5. No readable numbers? Measure the bore of the old inner cone, or the inner bearing seat on the stub axle, with vernier callipers and compare it with the bores in the table. In our experience caravan and camper makers don't publish bearing lists, so your caravan's handbook, or a call to the caravan maker, is the next step.
  6. Count the hubs. A 1x kit does one hub and a 2x kit does two, so a tandem van needs two 2x kits.

Marine seals on a caravan

Marine seals are fine on caravans, as our team confirms, and we recommend marine seals on anything that goes in the water. Our 2 or 2.5 tonne kit comes in a marine seal version, listed at 60.3 x 90.00 mm, and our Kimberley Karavans and Trojan kits list marine seals. How a marine kit differs from a standard one is in our marine vs standard trailer bearing kits guide.

Japanese or Chinese bearings?

Our caravan and trailer kits come with ITJ or KOYO bearings, made in Japan, or ACCOR, our economy brand from a high-end Chinese maker, and our team rates ACCOR and ITJ as both great quality. In our range:

  • ITJ only: the 2 or 2.5 tonne kits and the 25590 parallel kits.
  • ITJ or ACCOR: the 3 tonne, Dexter US, ModCon, Trojan and American import kits.
  • ACCOR only: the 1.5 tonne, Dexter AU, Kimberley and Cruisemaster kits.
  • KOYO or ACCOR: the Holden, Ford and composite kits.
  • KOYO only: the L68149 parallel kits with C610/28600 seals.
  • ITJ and KOYO together: the Simplicity kit.

The bearing numbers decide the fit; the brand is a preference. More in Japanese vs Chinese trailer bearings.

Servicing and replacing caravan wheel bearings

How often to service the bearings comes from your axle maker's or caravan maker's handbook, so check it there. Setting the bearings up on reassembly, including end play and the hub nut, follows the axle maker's own procedure: if you haven't done it before, have a caravan or trailer service centre do the job. Have the van checked before you tow further if a hub ran hot, a bearing grinds or has play, a cup is pitted, or the stub axle journal is scored or blue. Our kit listings say all parts should be fitted by a licensed professional to vehicle specifications.

Which Bearings Express kit fits

The other kits in the table, and the single-hub versions, are in the trailer bearing collection. Ordering and delivery questions are answered in our FAQ.

Questions people also ask

Which wheel bearing kit fits my caravan brand?

We match kits to bearing numbers, not to caravan brands. The only caravan and camper makers our kit listings name are Kimberley, ModCon, MDC and Simplicity, and most of those listings say "various" models, so check the numbers there too. For any other van, read the old bearings, check the handbook, or ask the caravan maker.

How much does caravan wheel bearing replacement cost?

We sell the bearing kits, and each kit's price is on its page. We don't quote fitting: a caravan or trailer service centre can quote the labour.

Do you sell caravan wheel hubs?

No. We list bearing kits, seals and dust caps for trailer hubs, not the hubs themselves.

What bearings are in an AL-KO 2 tonne caravan kit?

AL-KO's 2/2.5 tonne set is an HR30210 inner with a 15123 cone and 15245 cup outer, and a 64607 seal: the same bearing numbers as our 2 or 2.5 tonne kit, whose listing gives AL-KO's 487001 caravan bearing kit as the one it replaces. AL-KO's 3 tonne set keeps the HR30210 inner but has an LM29749 outer.
